Submission Guidelines and How to Submit
Submission Guidelines:
- Image Quality: Submit high-resolution photos with clear visibility and minimal distortion. Images should be at least 600 x 650 pixels in size. Please do not submit vertical phone photos.
- Original Content: Only submit original photographs that you have taken yourself. Do not submit images that are copyrighted or owned by someone else unless it is older than 70 years. Please state that the photo is not yours and is older than 70 years when submitting.
- Location Information: Include accurate location information (city, state, country) for each photo. If possible, provide additional context such as the name of the building, landmark, or event.
- Date and Time: If it is a structure fire, please include the date and location taken.
- File Format: Submit photos in commonly used formats such as JPEG or PNG. Please do not submit HEIC images, as they do not work with our database schema.
- Consent and Permission: If the photo contains identifiable individuals, ensure that you have their consent to submit the image for public use.
- No Manipulation: Do not digitally alter or manipulate the content of the photo in a way that misrepresents the original scene.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure that the submission complies with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to privacy and intellectual property rights.
- No Graphic Content: Do not submit photos containing excessively graphic or disturbing content (including ANY medical scene).
- Scene Photos: Only structure fires are allowed to be submitted, with permission of your fire chief. EMS call photos are not allowed to be submitted.
- Watermark: Watermarks are not needed, because we include them. However, if you choose to watermark your photos, ensure that the watermark does not obstruct important details of the image.
- Submission Limit: If a truck has more than two photos, please do not submit a photo of that truck. Stations may only have one photo. There is no limit on patch photos unless they are the same.
- Common Sense: Use common sense when submitting photos. If you think you shouldn’t submit the photo, DO NOT SUBMIT IT.
- US Military Bases: Images of US Military bases and US military firetrucks are strictly prohibited by US law. If you submit a photo of these locations, we will deny your submission.
- Northeast Firefighters reserve the right to remove or deny your photos anytime for any reason. We will not use your images outside of the website, except on our social media.
- By submitting a photo, you agree to these terms.

Include:
- Your name (E.g. John Doe or J. Doe).
- Nicknames like “Truck71” or “firebuff43” will not be accepted.
- If you prefer anonymity: "Northeast Photo / Courtesy of your fire department".
- City and state where the photo was taken (country only if outside the US).
- Truck type if known (E.G. 2002 Pierce Enforcer).
Important Note: Failure to provide complete information may result in denial of your submission. I get a lot of photos sent to me that have no information.
